And, notwithstanding her fair coloring and European features, both her parents were Syrian, though she was born in London. Here is an article about her that was published in Vogue in February 2011. It’s so convenient for Mideast despots (e.g. King Hussein, King Hussein’s son) that there always seems to be a ready supply of fair, Western-educated, Arab women for them to marry.

I came across the photo in an article by Daniel Pipes arguing that the U.S. should not get involved in the Syrian civil war. Naturally the other neocons disagree. This is the first time I remember Pipes actually debating with his fellow neocons against U.S. intervention. In other instances (such as Libya) his disagreements with neocon policy, if they could be called that, have been passive and ambivalent.
