Charges dropped

According to the AP, the charges against Gates have been dropped:

The city of Cambridge issued a statement saying the arrest “was regrettable and unfortunate” and police and Gates agreed that dropping the charge was a just resolution.

“This incident should not be viewed as one that demeans the character and reputation of professor Gates or the character of the Cambridge Police Department,” the statement said.

Too bad. Gates’s behavior was outrageous and he should be punished for it.

And what about the Cambridge Police Department? Will they stand behind Officer Crowley?

Now read the AP article and see the impression one would get from it, as compared to the impression one would get from reading Officer Crowley’s detailed and factual report of what happened.

For those who feel stirred to protest the Boston Globe’s suppression of the police report, the telephone number of the editor of the Globe’s website, boston.com, is here.

Also, I haven’t had time to check this out, but could readers tell me how other conservative sites have been covering this story, if at all?
