Immigrant killers

In an amazing article, Takuan Seiyo looks in detail at the life of the Binghamton mass murderer Jiverly Wong, asking over and over, What was in the deal for the United States? He then recounts the cases of many other recent immigrant murderers and mass murderers. I’ve never seen such a catalogue before. Beyond the problem of murder, the article conveys a sense of the cosmic human disorder America has invited into itself in the name of non-discrimination and diversity. Must reading.

The piece inspires this reworking of Emma Lazarus’s poem:

“Keep ancient lands, your cultured ways!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your head-cases, your screwy,
Your huddled mass murderers yearning to shoot free,
The angry misfits of your teeming shore.
Send these, the unassimilable, to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
