What’s the good of speaking the truth, if you’re a low talker?

See the discussion of how the then Army Chief of Staff Eric Shinseki, who has gotten so much good press as a truth speaker to the administration prior to the war with regard to the number of troops that would be needed in Iraq, in fact failed to make his points forcefully to the administration when it was crucial that he do so. Also, the conversation in the entry “Thinking through the invasion of Iraq, again,” has continued.
