How I’m doing: update

There have been no changes in my status since I last posted on this, five days ago. I am still waiting—it is now five days—for the procedure to be scheduled, in which the aim will be to install a stent in my intestine thus restoring a wide-enough opening to allow the intestine to function normally. I haven’t spoken to the G.I. specialist since I saw her five days ago. Doctors and their secretaries tell you they will get back to you, and very often they don’t or leave you waiting a long time. As for how I’m feeling in the interim, with the adjustment in the pain management, I am still continually uncomfortable, but the worst symptom, the sharp pain in my belly, is not as bad as it was last week. I’m not in the intense misery I was in last week. Occasionally I am able to rest comfortably.

UPDATE, January 22, 5:30 p.m.: The procedure is scheduled for Friday afternoon.

UPDATE, January 23, 10:40 a.m.: Because the pain is so bad, they are moving the procedure up to tomorrow morning, Thursday, instead of Friday.
