The rising security state, from sea to shining sea

Steven L. writes:

First, I would like to thank you for your wonderfully written and thoughtful pieces. It is heartening to be able to read such consistent conservatism. You keep me sane in an insane world, and an insane country.

What prompts this letter is an experience I had last night. I was attending the “Peach Festival” near Scranton, Pennsylvania. The amount of police presence was astounding. There were several local police departments, the county sheriff’s department, and, to top it off, two policemen on horseback! All for a concert attended by primarily white people who were there to listen to music. This does not include the hired event staff who were constantly checking badges, containers, purses, backpacks, etc., and generally harassing the concert-goers at every opportunity.

The amazing part was, however, the attitude of the attendees. The massive security did not bother them! People in large gatherings are apparently used to this type of overwhelming show of force. I have not been to an event like this in over 30 years, and I bought tickets at the urging of a friend. The experience left me depressed this morning. We have lost. There is no turning back. The big government agenda, big law agenda, big prison agenda, etc., has won. We are but subjects to be controlled, and taxed, and allowed to die when the time comes. It is over for us as a society.

It is time to pray more fervently than ever.
