Romney campaign confirms that he still wants the Boy Scouts to include homosexuals

The Miami Herald reports:

WASHINGTON, DC—The Mitt Romney for President campaign, responding to a 1994 video recently surfaced by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), confirmed over the weekend that Romney still believes gay Americans should be allowed to participate in the Boy Scouts.

Campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul said that Romney’s 1994 comments, where he said that the Boy Scouts should welcome members who are gay, “remains Romney’s position today.”

Interesting. When asked this week what position he took on the five conservative House members who questioned Huma Abedin’s security clearance, Romney said that the issue had nothing to do with his campaign and he was taking no position on it. Too bad that—instead of re-confirming his 1994 position that the Boy Scouts should include homosexuals—Romney didn’t say, “The Boy Scouts are a private organization and their membership rules are none of my business.”
