An eloquent statement about the insanity of Western women

Aditya B., a regular commenter at VFR, writes at The Thinking Housewife, addressing Laura Wood:

I want to ask you whether you believe that women like Valérie Trierweiler, France’s First Girlfriend, have any sense of self-awareness.

Do these women realize that most non-whites regard all white women as nothing more than a piece of meat? And when confronted by one who looks like she can accessorize her dress with a lamp post and a public defender, most non-whites will not only not take her seriously, they will not take her husband, companion, escort, whatever they call ‘em nowadays seriously. In her case, her country will not be taken seriously, as most non-whites are going to conclude that it is a land of prostitutes, and indeed, they even put one on the highest pedestal of power.

Do you think white women have any idea about these perceptions? Do you think they have the slightest concern, not only for their safety and dignity, but for the safety and dignity of their compatriots?

Has it occurred to half-naked TV hosts, drunken sorority girls and the like, that images of their behavior cause non-white men worldwide to view all white women as whores? Consequently, no white girl is safe abroad.

Are white women just deluded? Or completely stupid? Or a bit of both? Or what? I simply do not understand this behavior.

In connection with Aditya’s questions and Laura Wood’s reply, see the 2009 VFR discussion, “Why has the female sex lost its mind?”

—end of initial entry—

A reader writes:

Yesterday on the Lexington Avenue subway south of Grand Central I observed three young white women in their twenties, one a beautiful blond, wearing short shorts scarcely longer than their knickers. They were all obviously upper middle class. All were traveling independently without male escorts, at great risk in my opinion. Most blacks, Hispanics, and Arabs would assume them to be whores and treat them accordingly.

A.S. writes:

Aditya B. wrote: “Do these women realize that most non-whites regard all white women as nothing more than a piece of meat?”

This statement is false. Most non-whites in my experience admire and envy white women because they are beautiful and glamorous. Non-white women try to imitate their style, their manners and mores, and non-white men want to marry them. I get it that men can consider a woman to be a piece of meat, but I don’t think that’s the sum total of what’s going on here.

As far as Valerie Trierweiler is concerned, to the extent that anyone is offended, it’s likely to be what one feels when one sees someone who is supposed to be high class, behaving badly.

LA replies:

This is the typical fallacious reasoning that dominates the modern world and makes it impossible to make any general statement that goes against liberal assumptions. No one said that non-Western men seeing white women as whores and meat was the “sum total” of what’s going on. But it is a very, very large part of what’s going on, and it is seen in the crime stories of every day’s news. A.S. thinks that by showing that this phenomenon is not the “sum total,” he has shown that the phenomenon does not exist or is not important.

An Indian living in the West writes:

I think Aditya B.”s comment needs to be re-phrased. It isn’t that most non-white men look at provocatively dressed white women as “meat.” I think men generally look at provocatively dressed women (of any race) as “meat.” The difference is in the reaction to what they see. I think Western men (including many non-white men who have grown up in the Western countries) will look at a provocatively dressed woman as worth enticing into the bedroom for sex.

In non-Western environments, the reactions will differ depending upon the cultural setting. In Islamic cultural settings, the Koranic teachings about “conquest” of infidel women (especially those that are dressed immodestly) are easily invoked and can result in rape. So it depends.

I think Aditya has not been to India recently, since women dressing provocatively has become quite common in the big cities. A visit to the more famous watering holes of Delhi or Mumbai or any of the fashionable night-clubs there will prove this beyond doubt.

Why do women dress provocatively? In the Western setting, they dress provocatively precisely because of the reactions that women know men will have in the West. As for the rest of the world, Western women are too provincial and narrow-minded to understand how a Saudi Ambassador, for example, would view this. This cultural “ignorance” (masked by constant invocations of cultural “open-mindedness” and advocacy for “multiculturalism”) really accounts for this.

Actually, Aditya’s comment reminds me of the situation that arose in Iraq with Saddam Hussein when the American ambassador’s message was mistaken by the Iraqis as a sign of American weakness and accommodation which then resulted in the invasion of Kuwait. I think a sensible country would not send female ambassadors to Saudi Arabia or Iraq or Kuwait where even a very competent and sensible woman may be ineffective because of the way Arabs view women. But this kind of discretion has become impossible now, especially in America.

Indian living the West continues:
Even though the West is in decline, its contemporary “cultural” influence remains the dominant force in the world. I remember when Indians could first watch foreign TV channels for the first time in 1991 (when “cable” first arrived), how fixated people became with American life—it wasn’t just the sex but also the material goods, the comforts, the pleasures and so on.

The West may disappear but it has ironically conquered the earth. Among the young, the influence of Western ideas on fashion, sex, dating and sexual freedom have become predominant. When I look at young Indians from upper middle class families that have just entered their twenties, I am struck by the cultural “chasm” that separates me from them (even though the age difference is barely over a decade). The difference between them and me is that men and women my age watched one government owned TV channel (which had about one hour of programming per day) while growing up and had no exposure to the West until we were in our late teens. The new generation grew up on this “stuff” from day one. Which also to me accounts for their more “relaxed” view of homosexuality and the relentless campaign to “normalise” it in India.

I have a good friend in England whose father was a Pakistani diplomat and sent him to study in an English boarding school (which is quite common among the Indian and Pakistani elite). He told me how shocked he was at the promiscuity of the upper class and upper middle class girls in Lahore and Islamabad when he visited recently. While you have this fanatical Muslim population, within that population the upper class that has been bred on a steady diet of western “cultural” influence has become almost indistinguishable from those you would expect to meet in the more fashionable parts of London or Paris. In the Islamic world, this will be a source of perpetual friction between the religious Muslims and those that are “educated.”

I think that the West is just a little more “advanced” at these things because it had a “head-start.” The sexual mores are changing rapidly everywhere due to the influence of television and now the internet which is available in every single corner of the earth. In the 1830s, Alexis de Tocqueville once wrote that “Variety is disappearing from the human race; the same ways of acting, thinking, and feeling are to be met with all over the world.” What a prescient quote that was! He was nearly two centuries ahead of his time.

Aditya B. writes:

Many thanks for posting the comment and for the compliment.

ILW makes an excellent point and distinction between Western perception of provocatively dressed women and non western perspectives. With your permission, I’d like to put some more pressure on that distinction.

The West has a culture of seduction where female sexual provocation occupies its own place. Seduction is a ritual, with its own ceremonies, incantations and spells. This has been true for centuries. There is nothing analogous in the East. As ILW pointed out, the East is just “blossoming.”

In that sense, a Western man will try to bed a provocatively dressed woman. He will try to seduce her. But neither player in the game loses sight of the game or the players. Each understands their part and performs the best they can.

In the East, outside of a small minority, the game doesn’t exist. Any provocatively dressed woman is a whore. However, white women are presumed whores until proven otherwise owing to mass media and the pornification of western pop culture. Therein lies the greatest danger for white girls. Even a tree-hugging do-gooder with the Peace Corp is a viewed lewdly (not by all—but by the vulgar masses) because of the images they see on TV and the Internet. That is the crucial distinction between the danger faced by white girls and Indian girls: an Indian girl will have to act sluttish to invite unwanted attention, whereas the white girl will earn it simply because she is white.

I followed your discussion and I find myself agreeing mostly with Kristor and Mrs. Wood. The current degradation of the Western woman seems to be the result of both biological and spiritual forces. The destruction of the Established religious and social order, importation of millions of barbarians, loss of traditional white cultural confidence, biological affinity for “tough guys,” and other explanations seem to supply parts of the puzzle.

But it’s an unsolved puzzle nonetheless. And one that needs to be solved if the American nation is to be saved. “A nation is never defeated until the hearts of its women are on the ground.” I don’t think we’re quite there yet, but it’s best to act now than wait until American women turn into Russian and Eastern European women (at which point the American Project may as well be abandoned).

LA writes:

By the way, I have no idea what this, from Aditya’s initial entry, means:

And when confronted by one who looks like she can accessorize her dress with a lamp post and a public defender,

but it’s funny, and somehow it works, like a surrealistic line in a Dylan song.

Patrick H. writes:

I think Aditya’s very funny comment was meant to imply that she dresses like a street-level prostitute, who leans against a lamppost to attract customers, and who can only afford a public defender for her trial in night court on solicitation charges.

Paul K. writes:

“And when confronted by one who looks like she can accessorize her dress with a lamp post and a public defender,”

I struggled with that too. The image she means to create is that of a hooker standing under a lamppost, soliciting, while she has a public defender on tap for when she get busted. It could have been constructed a little more clearly.

Mark Eugenikos writes:

Regarding Aditya’s statement that “And when confronted by one who looks like she can accessorize her dress with a lamp post and a public defender,” I believe that a reference to the lamp post refers to prostitutes, who lean against lamp posts while soliciting customers. I am not sure about the public defender, perhaps it refers to public defenders who are assigned to defendants in court who can not afford their own attorneys.

But I have a question for Aditya regarding his latest post, where he says:

I don’t understand the reference to Russian and Eastern European women. Aditya seems to imply that they (Russian and Eastern European women) are worse, or worse off, than American women, or perhaps that Russian and Eastern European societies are less healthy than the American society? It’s not clear.

A few points: Eastern Europe and Russia haven’t imported millions of barbarians, so in that sense they are still largely historical homes of their native populations. In countries which are EU members the EU-mandated forms of cultural suicide (destruction of the established religious and social order) are being implemented, but they have advanced less than in places like England and France. In Russia they aren’t ashamed to talk about national interest, last I checked. Regarding biological survival, practically all white countries are below the replacement level, to various degrees. At least in Russia they now have an official government policy in place to encourage and help families have more kids, and according to some statistics I’ve seen Russia in just a couple of years may go back to net population growth, after decades of population decline.

Of course, I may have completely misunderstood what Aditya intended to say and the previous paragraph could therefore be completely irrelevant. I would welcome further explanation from him.

Aditya B. writes:

The first girlfriend’s dress, Mr Auster. It should be accessorized with a lamp post and public defender, i.e., she looks like a hooker. :)

Aditya B. writes:

In response to Mark Eugenikos:

Eastern Europe has suffered horrific trauma over the last hundred years. Every institution that governed their communities has been destroyed. The Empires committed murder-suicide and loosed the forces of anarchy upon these unfortunate souls. Bolshevik and Nazi terror both imprisoned them. Both systems are responsible for a lunatic transfer of populations that made neighbor enemy of neighbor and destroyed social cohesion.

Russia’s demographic decline has alarmed both conservatives and liberals. These are the latest population figures for Russia: (-.48 population “growth”). Russia is steadily losing more people.

Russia largest neighbor, and one of the oldest Eastern European civilizations, Ukraine, isn’t faring much better. They had a -.625 population “growth. There has been a steady trend of population decline which is analyzed in detail by these unfortunate people themselves.

And who is filling this vacuum?

“You think that we are coming here as foreigners, but we believe that we are at home here and maybe you are the foreigners. We will make those laws that suit us, whether you like it or not, and any attempts to change that will lead to spilled blood. There will be a second dead sea here and we will drown the city in blood.” Moscow lawyer, Dagir Khasavov, quoted in Daniel Greenfield’s in-depth and disturbing essay. Greenfield demonstrates that the Russians have loosed the savage inhabitants of Muslim Central Asia upon their population in a Russian version of the American plan to “elect a new people.”

I’m sure you are familiar with the “mail order bride” phenomenon. Eastern European women are in great demand (for their whiteness, their beauty). And guess what? “The Mail Order Bride Trade is Flourishing” proclaims the degenerate, soulless, money-worshipping Businessweek. My heart breaks for the women who submit to this form of concubinage, but I have nothing but hatred for the human refuse that participates in this business.

And the business gets even worse. Sex-trafficking in Eastern European women is endemic. These unfortunate girls work as prostitutes all over the West, and especially, all over the Middle East.

Some claim that the word “slave” originated in “slav.” For many centuries, the two biggest exports from the West to the Muslim world were weapons and womens (most of whom were slavs but Muslim Corsairs would travel as far as Scandinavia to kidnap and enslave white women).

Now, the Corsairs don’t even have to kidnap them. The women willingly travel to Dubai, Riyadh, Qatar and other places in the Muslim Middle East to serve as sex slaves.

Truly, the heart of these women is in the ground. I don’t think anyone but the One True Diety (and I hope he exists) can save these people. No people, least of all these hardy, beautiful people, should have to suffer this humiliation, this sorry fate.

I noticed that Aditya replied, so I’ll offer some of my comments since I believe I am a bit more of an expert on Eastern Europe that he is—I was born and grew up there, so I’m speaking from first hand experience and as someone who follows local news in original language. This may get long, so I’ll try to quote just the crucial parts from his reply.

Aditya: “Eastern Europe has suffered horrific trauma over the last hundred years.”

ME: I know, I was born and raised there.

A: “Every institution that governed their communities has been destroyed.”

ME: disagree—saying that every institution has been destroyed is much too strong; weakened yes, destroyed no. To go into much detail would require book-length essays.

A: “Both systems [Nazis and Bolsheviks] are responsible for a lunatic transfer of populations that made neighbor enemy of neighbor and destroyed social cohesion.”

ME: apart from sending Jews to camps with the intention of killing them, Nazis weren’t known for population transfers. Soviets were doing massive population transfers, of what they considered enemy populations—Volga Germans, Chechens, and some other Caucasus people, in addition to political enemies that were sent to Gulags. After the WWII many Volga Germans left for Germany, Chechens eventually were allowed back from Siberia, and Gulags were closed. Not sure if this affected social cohesion. Outside of USSR, I’m not aware of any large-scale population transfers, apart from local Germans throughout Eastern Europe, many of which were packed off to Germany after WWII as they were considered enemy population. I don’t think this weakened social cohesion of the host countries.

A: “Russia is steadily losing more people.”

ME: if you believe CIA world factbook, maybe. If you read Russian sources relying on Russian data, they have numbers to prove that the decline is over and the increase is forthcoming.

A: “… Dagir Khasavov, quoted in Daniel Greenfield’s in-depth and disturbing essay. Greenfield demonstrates that the Russians have loosed the savage inhabitants of Muslim Central Asia upon their population in a Russian version of the American plan to “elect a new people.”

ME: nonsense—talk is cheap. Sources vary on the number of Muslims in Russia, from 4-6% to 10%. Their fertility rates aren’t that different from Russian fertility rates, except for Chechens, which are less than 1% of the population. So Muslims in Russia don’t have the numbers to replace anyone, and don’t even trend in that direction. And there is absolutely no indication (from local sources, not from clowns writing essays for Western magazines) that Russians have a plan to elect a new people.

A: “The Mail Order Bride Trade is Flourishing, proclaims the degenerate, soulless, money-worshipping Businessweek. My heart breaks for the women who submit to this form of concubinage, but I have nothing but hatred for the human refuse that participates in this business.”

ME: According to the numbers in the linked BusinessWeek article, this seems like several thousand brides a year, so it’s pretty small. In my 20 years in the US, I have never actually met a mail-order bride, even though I sure read about them a lot. It’s not concubinage, more like crappy matchmaking. Again, if you read local (say, Russian) sources, the time when an average Western guy was considered a good catch is history, as Russian living standards have risen. Nowadays a mail order bride is more likely to be a gold digger than someone escaping hunger and poverty.

A: “And the business gets even worse. Sex-trafficking in Eastern European women is endemic [link to globalpost.com article].

ME: DON’T CLICK ON THE LINK—MALICIOUS SITE. I don’t trust any references posted on malicious sites. I was just reading the linked article when I got the warning that a Trojan was detected and neutralized (Rogue:JS/FakePAV, ). I am running Windows 7 Enterprise with System Center 2012 malware protection which caught it, and I hope that other readers’ computers didn’t get infected.

A: “Some claim that the word ‘slave’ originated in ‘slav.’”

ME: “Slav” is a name and is therefore capitalized; the origin of Slav comes from “slovo” (word, speech, letter) which suggests the name originally meant member of a speech community (compare to Old Church Slavonic Nemici “Germans,” related to nemu “dumb,” because Slavs couldn’t talk to Germans; also some form of “Nemci” is a contemporary word for “Germans” in most Slavic languages). Slav is capitalized just like Indian in capitalized.

A: “I don’t think anyone but the One True Diety [sic] (and I hope he exists) can save these people. No people, least of all these hardy, beautiful people, should have to suffer this humiliation, this sorry fate.”

ME: God exists, of course; try explaining anything without God. Aditya also sounds patronizing—I don’t think that most people in Eastern Europe think of themselves as suffering humiliation, or that their fate is sorry. Sure, Eastern Europe is no Switzerland, but it still beats many other parts of the world as far as quality of life is concerned.

If may offer a few pieces of advice to Aditya, since he shows genuine and unusual interest in Eastern Europe: a) Get out more and meet some real people from the region. b) Don’t rely on Western media for news about Eastern Europe; U.S. media coverage of Eastern Europe in general and Russia in particular is atrocious, so if you want to get reliable news you either have to learn the language(s) or find local media sources in English, which shouldn’t be too hard nowadays. c) Don’t believe everything you read in British and U.S. media about Eastern Europe. d) Run a state-of-the-art anti-virus/anti-malware software when you surf less reputable parts of the Internet.

Corey N. writes:

Regarding Aditya B’s line about his heart breaking at the mail order bride business, I thought I might put in a few words on this topic.

I have been to Ukraine twice. I am currently planning another trip there this summer. I have talked extensively with a large variety of the women participating in these sorts of programs—with the hope, obviously, of finding one that I would be satisfied with marrying, who would be happy to marry me, and who my parents would be happy with. I do this because I finally became completely frustrated with the women of my own country and my inability to connect with them in any meaningful sense.

It is absolutely true that there is a certain air of prostitution involved here—the man is offering his ability to support a family—basically, his money—and the woman is offering her beauty and her ability to produce children. This was one of the biggest stumbling blocks for me when I was originally considering this. But, wasn’t traditional marriage based on essentially the same exchange? The thing is, one must avoid undue pressure. If the women are pressured into things—obviously that is a problem. I have seen some cases where such pressure exists, to the extent of the agency managers pressuring a woman to meet a Western man who wants to meet her, or taking part in a beauty competition to have the photos to advertise their agency, or such things. Different agencies can be more or less reputable—Ukraine is a country where you can find absolutely wonderful people and also people who will scratch and claw for the chance to rip you off for five cents.

The women I have spoken to have been generally very clear that they do this of their own free will, because they are exasperated or frustrated with the behavior of the men of their country. It is a very common story for a Ukrainian man to marry a woman while in his early 20s, then a few years later she discovers he’s got a mistress on the side—often after the first kid. Sometimes she discovers this when he announces that he’s leaving her for the other one. Many of the women involved in these programs have been through this. Many more are the daughters of such situations. They want very strongly to change their circumstances in order not to have such things be a part of their lives, or their children’s lives, and it is for that reason that they choose this method. It is in many ways a mirror image situation to that in the USA, where it is the women who move from partner to partner without consequence, leaving emotional wrecks behind.

This is not to say that they are pedestalized paragons. They’re women, with women’s traits and weaknesses, made somewhat more extreme by the competitiveness of the sexual marketplace in that country. A “beta” man will be ruthlessly exploited, a man who doesn’t know how to tell a woman “no” will have her walk all over him. For my part I can’t say I have had any notable problems.

The circumstances that give rise to the mail-order bride business are absolutely not good things. Post-USSR society is atomized rubble that is still settling, with bits and pieces of traditional society still left behind, mixed in with the sexual libertinism that the male/female mismatch produces—in Ukraine women outnumber men, in the USA men slightly outnumber women. I do not, however, consider the general deplorability of the situation to be a sufficient reason to refuse to do what I can to improve it, especially if by doing so I may improve my own situation.

If I may provide a specific example: the woman who is the primary purpose of my trip this summer (not my first visit to her) spends her weekends pulling weeds and digging potatoes at her grandparents’ village house, while working in advertising in the city during the week. She is well-read in the Russian classics, has never seen an Indiana Jones movie, does not pay for TV service because she considers the programming to be garbage. When she was a baby, her father divorced her mother and moved to Moscow, and her mother died a few years later, but she was raised by her maternal grandparents. She is their only grandchild, the last of what was a rather numerous family. The agency she was with previously, she wasn’t happy with, as they had insisted that she participate in a beauty contest to represent her city—so shortly afterward she switched to a different one. In general she’s very good at projecting the sense that nobody can make her do things if she really doesn’t want to—which I admit makes me a bit nervous, a husband does need to be able to inspire his wife to follow him, but I figure this is just the sort of challenge marriage involves and there’s nothing for it but to forge ahead and work any serious disagreements out as they arise. She’s about 12 years younger than I am—the same age difference between my grandparents. She has a slight but stated preference that I move to Ukraine if we were to marry, although she’s worried about Russian expansionism. And as far as the agency I’ve been using, their service on all fronts has been truly exceptional—my one complaint is that they charge a bit much. But when I compare to the prices I’ve seen quoted for New York City professional matchmakers, it’s not out of line. And as for the woman, it would be incomparably more difficult for me to meet and spend time with a woman of similar quality if I restricted myself to the local [American?] ones.

So, I understand Aditya’s reaction, but it isn’t as bad as he makes it out. These women really want to do this, they have very good and sensible reasons for it, and if by some imperial decree one could shut the entire business down instantly, the likely result would be merely to force them to stay in situations where one of the greatest assets any woman has—her ability to bear children for an honest man who will cherish and protect her—would go largely to waste.

Aditya B. writes:

To both respondents:

I’m sorry if i came off as patronizing, but it’s quite the opposire. I’ve always been fascinated by Eastern Europeans and I genuinely wish them well.

By all reliable indicators, Eastern Europe seems to be faring pretty badly. There are several reputable writers including Pat Buchanan (who is an out and out Slavophile), Daniel Greenfield, Mark Hackard and others who have devoted much analysis to the situation.

Again, every Arab I run into as well as every Indian I meet, who is returning from the Middle East, mentions Eastern European hookers. This is anecdotal evidence, I know; but it seems that white prostitutes in the Middle East are disproportinately Eastern European.

But I understand that we, in the West, see through a monitor darkly. It is perfectly possible that the Western media is exaggerating the situation and that Eastern Europe is doing just fine. It is equally possible that the “white slavery” trade is an exaggeration. Nothing could make me happier.

Although Eastern Europe was imprisoned by Communism, it has avoided Cultural Marxism. These people seem to be proud of their land and their Faith. They’re just the sort of people we need to fight the Islamic menace since Western Europe has effectively thrown in the towel.

Again, I wasn’t patronizing anyone when I expressed my agnostic position on God. I am not a believer. I don’t hold anyone’s faith against him, and all I ask in return is that no one hold my agnosticism against me. It’s only a matter of attitude, nothing else.

I am not comfortable with the “Mail Order Brides” phenomenon because it smacks of concubinage. Is it possible to find a lovely bride who will love and honor you through this arrangement? Absolutely! But that doesn’t justify its existence. Maybe a better way to do it would be an “E-Harmony” type arrangement or through the services of reputable agencies who can vouchsafe safety and good (or at least passable) morals of both parties involved.

Paul Henri writes:

I don’t understand the difference between the Ukrainian bride market and characters in a Jane Austen novel. In both situations, the parties are being careful about their prospective mates, and the women need the men’s money. Oh gee, we need one another! The discussion differences seem to revolve around the liberal principle that we don’t need anybody because we can be whatever we want to be. So what if a man and a woman want to get married because it is practical? No surprise there. One is devious, and the other is genuine. No surprise there either.

Aditya B. writes:

Some questions for Mark Eugenikos:

I have a weakness for counterfactuals. I often wonder how things could have been if the U.S. had sincerely assisted Russia after the collapse of the USSR. What would the world look like if an old friendship had been rekindled?

Do you think that the Russians and the Americans could have been a great peoples together? Do you think that together, Russia and America, would have resisted the forces of global Islam as well as the forces of Cultural Marxism?

Or am I being naive? Is there too simply too much mistrust, too much acrimony and too many divergent national interests that would prevent such a friendship?

For starters, I think that unnecessary involvement in the Balkans could have been avoided and we wouldn’t have empowered gangster Muslims in one of the most vital and ancient centers of Christianity. U.S. empowerment of Kosovar and Bosniak Muslims has been one of the most insane policy decisions. It was such an act of rank lunacy that even the arch-neocon Krauthammer was opposed to it.

Do you think that the Balkans conflict further emboldened Islam and that it set the stage for its continued operations against the West?

Also, as I have noted, Eastern Europeans are proud of their land, their Faith and their forefathers. Could their influence have put the brakes on the Western Path to National Suicide?

I would like to know his perspective on this scenario as he seems very knowledgeable about these issues.
