The awful truth

While the political news lately is overall very bad, there has been one positive development which, though minor in the overall scale of things, is nevertheless welcome: Republicans have lost their long-standing delusional triumphalism about the 2012 election. As an example of this new attitude, in an article on “Ann Coulter’s Change of Heart about Mitt Romney,” Fox News reports:

In the height of the battle over Obama’s health care plan, [Coulter] felt the President had “a glass jaw.” But now, she insists he “has the entire mainstream media with him. He’s this attractive president with an attractive family. He has the advantages of incumbency.”

That’s what I have been pointing out relentlessly for at least the last year-and-a-half, even as the Republican/conservative establishment kept doing a sack dance over Obama’s supposedly prone and helpless body. Of course, it’s not good that this anti-American leftist is favored for re-election; it’s horrible. But isn’t it better to see the truth, than to live in a pumped-up partisan fantasy world?
