The storming of the Israeli embassy in Egypt keeps getting worse

First we heard that an Egyptian mob stormed and invaded the Israeli embassy in Cairo. Then we heard that the mob stormed and invaded the Israeli embassy while police and military stood around for hours and did nothing to stop them. And now we learn that the mob stormed and invaded the Israeli embassy while U.S. Defense Secretary Panetta urgently tried to reach de facto Egyptian leader Hussein Tantawi on the phone and was told he wasn’t available. Not only does this make certain, if it wasn’t already, that the decision to order police not to stop the mob and protect the embassy was made at the top of the Egyptian government, it shows that the Egyptian government is anti-U.S. as well as anti-Israel. Jihad Watch has the story, which is drawn from the Telegraph and the New York Times.

If readers are interested, they could keep checking in at Commentary and the Weekly Standard to see if the neocons express any second thoughts about their support for the toppling of the Mubarak regime.
