Kerry says that media have responsibility not to give equal time to Tea Party

Hmm. Since Sen. Kerry believes that “absurd” ideas such as those of the tea partiers should not get equal time on news programs, and since, as a left-liberal Democrat, he of course believes that the Republicans’ ideas are absurd, does he also believe that Republicans should not get equal time?

The story and video are at Real Clear Politics.

MIchael S. writes:

“The media has got to begin to not give [sic] equal time or equal balance to an absolutely absurd notion just because somebody asserts it…”

Like the notion that two men could be married to each other? Or the notion that women have any place in combat units?

Senator Kerry has no business lecturing anyone on what constitutes “an absolutely absurd notion.”

LA replies:

Yes, but there is a connection between Kerry’s actually absurd and extreme notions which you give examples of, and his wish to suppress the notions of conservatives. The more absurd and extreme liberals’ own positions become, the more they see perfectly rational positions as absurd and extreme.
