G.I.’s say they don’t like berets

Agence France Presse reports:

The US Army is abandoning the beret, after a failed 10-year experiment. The black beret, which proved deeply unpopular with American soldiers, will be replaced by a patrol cap for everyday wear, US Army spokesman Colonel Tom Collins said Monday. They’re vocally unhappy with the beret, but they have no problem with wearing a uniform that looks like pajamas? I don’t get it. I don’t understand how any man could feel good about himself wearing the ridiculous uniform that has been standard in the U.S. military (and other militaries) for decades.
