Romney stands with Obama and Hillary

Don Hank writes at his blog:

Mitt Romney has broken with conservative opinion in his statement on the Egyptian crisis, coming down on the side of the mob of angry Islamists and Barack Obama (see linked article).

Obama, who has in fact demanded Mubarak’s immediate withdrawal, saying it “must begin now,” is following in the footsteps of President Jimmy Carter, who—you may recall—righteously demanded, back in the 70s, that the Shah of Iran be deposed because he was not democratic enough. The assumption was that whoever replaced the Shah would, of course, be democratic.

LA writes:

This is no surprise. With the possible exception of Grover Norquist, Romney is the single worst person in the Republican party when it comes to the Islam issue. Unlike other naive Republicans, he doesn’t just say that jihadism is a small, unrepresentative faction within Islam. He categorically states that jihadism has absolutely nothing to do with Islam. This puts him in a class by himself as an Islam apologist.

Precisely. This policy is just as dumb as Obamacare. Romney is not CEO material.

James N. writes:

There is an additional factor at work here.

The underlying premise of Romney’s faith (to which he appears quite devoted) is that the Christian church which formed the West was corrupt and apostate, requiring intervention from a god rather different from the Hebrew or Christian God.

These idiosyncratic beliefs may make the cult of Allah (which has a rather similar view of the Christian church) seem more agreeable to him than to a more ordinary Western man.
