Hate speech trial of Hedegaard will proceed

The Danish public prosecutor is going ahead with the “hate speech” trial of Lars Hedegaard, the president of the International Free Press Society and the Danish Free Press Society. Hedegaard’s offense is that he spoke of the incidence of “family rape” in Muslim culture.

Here again is Danish law Article 266b under which Hedegaard is being prosecuted::

Whoever publicly or with the intent of public dissemination issues a pronouncement or other communication by which a group of persons are threatened, insulted or denigrated due to their race, skin colour, national or ethnic origin, religion or sexual orientation is liable to a fine or incarceration for up to two years.

As I discussed last week, under this law, truth is no defense against the charge of insulting or denigrating a group. The entire Western world, with the exception of the U.S., is under similar tyrannical laws, and, as we inescapably realize from the events of the last 12 days, the left in the U.S. is striving to bring non-leftists in America under a similar regime, if not through legislation then through the extra-legal demonization and silencing of non-leftist opinion.

The Canada Free Press Society has posted a selection of writings and e-mails in support of Hedegaard.
