Abercrombie, like the thing with feathers, is back

N. writes:

Hawaii Gov. Abercrombie says he’s still looking for Obama’s birth certificate. In an interview with the “Star-Advertiser,” he talks about “civil unions” for homosexuals, budget issues, and at the very end we find this:

“Q: You stirred up quite a controversy with your comments regarding birthers and your plans to release more information regarding President Barack Obama’s birth certificate. How is that coming?

A: I got a letter from someone the other day who was genuinely concerned about it; it is not all just political agenda. They were talking on Olelo last night about this; it has a political implication for 2012 that we simply cannot have.

[Abercrombie said there is a recording of the birth in the State Archives and he wants to use that.]

It was actually written I am told, this is what our investigation is showing, it actually exists in the archives, written down …

… What I can do, and all I have ever said, is that I am going to see to it as governor that I can verify to anyone who is honest about it that this is the case.

If there is a political agenda then there is nothing I can do about that, nor can the president.

[end of excerpt]

My speculation: Abercrombie will produce the same Certificate of Live Birth that the left has been waving around for years, and this will not settle the issue. No long-form birth certificate will be produced.

LA replies:

“It was actually written I am told, this is what our investigation is showing, it actually exists in the archives, written down … “

Hardy har har. This is an amazing joke. Either there is a birth certificate or there isn’t. What could he possibly be referring to, when he says that there is “something” that “actually exists,” that is “written down”?” Who ever heard of a birth certificate that is “written down”?

Abercrombie is like a boxer who is standing, but dazed, and ready for a knock out.

At the same time, my prediction that his advocacy of the issue would disappear, which seemed to have been proved right the other day, is now proved wrong. His advocacy of the issue has not disappeared. At the same time, there is no there there. He’s going to come forth with something, probably the same Certificate of Live Birth which was proferred in 2008, as you guess, and, in his dizzy state, he will claim that he’s now resolved the issue and proved Obama’s birth in Hawaii and his natural born citizen status. That way he will, in his own mind and in the media portrayal, have saved face, though in fact he will have made a fool of himself. By coming up with something, no matter how specious, he goes through the motions of saving face.
