Several readers recently have written to express their gratitude for your site, and it occurred to me that, at the least, I owe you that much as well. To be candid, your writings have effected a revolution in my own thought. As a libertarian, I struggled for years to formulate a coherent rationale for the role of the individual in society, a subject that libertarian theory treats almost with contempt. It was as though I were on a freeway with no exit marked “Social Responsibility.” You built that exit; I turned off; and I’ve been exploring the countryside thereabouts ever since.
