What Merkel really meant

While the conservative blogosphere was cheering Chancellor Merkel’s remarks that multiculturalism in Germany has been a complete failure, I remained silent for a few days, and then expressed uncertainty over what she really meant, given the highly contradictory nature of all her statements on the subject. Today two readers have sent keys to help us make sense of Merkel’s contradictions.
