On the Democratic degringolade

Here is the video of Shields and Brooks on The NewsHour tonight. Their words are moderate. But the political devastation they speak of is total. And Brooks says, echoing what I said in the previous entry, that Obama gives no evidence of having learned anything from this disaster. He shows no “humility,” Brooks says. People want to see a sign that he’s heard them. But instead he just continues as before. Obama can of course do vast amounts of damage to the country in the next three years. But his aura is shattered, and, along with it, a mountain range of liberal illusions.

“And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.
(“Jabberwocky,” by Lewis Carroll)
