Can’t do everything

I know, I haven’t yet written anything on Lockerbie, and on Gov. Paterson blaming his political troubles on white racism. Also, I haven’t yet read Philippe Rushton’s Vdare article, “Shared Genes: The Evolution of Ethnonationalism.”

Unfortunately, as I see from a glance at the article, Rushton doesn’t just reference the unquestionable facts of human distinctiveness; he is a full blown Darwinian/Dawkinsian reductionist, subscribing to the notion that the evolutionary “purpose” of the organism is to serve the survival of its individual, “selfish” genes. Does he seriously expect to derive a viable theory of nationhood from this? That’s like expecting to derive a viable model of society from comparing the behavior of men to “alpha” and “beta” animals in packs.
