Civics test survey to end tonight

Many e-mails are coming in with readers’ scores on the U.S. civics test. Therefore instead of continuing the survey of readers until midnight Monday, as I announced earlier, I will, in order to keep the number of replies manageable, stop taking responses at midnight Sunday. The number that will have come in by then will be more than enough for a representative sample.

By the way, quite a few readers have been lamely excusing their mistaken answers by saying that they rushed through the test. I will reply in the manner of Johnnie Cochran: If you don’t want your best, don’t take the test. Readers have also pointed out flaws in the test questions, and they sometimes have a point. Several of the test questions have been discussed here.
