How do VFR readers rank on civics knowledge?

(Note: So many e-mails are coming in on the survey that instead of stopping it at midnight Monday, as I announced earlier, I will stop it at midnight Sunday.)

I declined to post individual readers’ scores on the test of U.S. civics literary, because, as I said, I didn’t want to make a competition out of it. Reader Chris L. suggests: “Maybe you should just average the scores of your readers to see how they did overall. It takes the competition out of it but gives an interesting result.” Sounds like fun. So, if you’ve taken the test and would like to participate, put “civics test” (without quotation marks) in the subject line of your e-mail and send me your score. NOTE: BE SURE TO GIVE THE NUMBER OF CORRECT ANSWERS YOU HAD, NOT THE PERCENTAGE OF CORRECT ANSWERS. Submissions will be accepted until midnight Monday, and then I’ll compute the average. Instead of VFR readers invidiously comparing themselves with each other, they will be disinterestedly comparing themselves as a group with a random sampling of all Americans.

NOTE: IF YOU WANT TO TAKE THE TEST AND PARTICIPATE IN THE VFR SURVEY, DO NOT READ THE EARLIER VFR ENTRY, BECAUSE TEST QUESTIONS ARE DISCUSSED THERE. TAKE THE TEST BEFORE READING THAT ENTRY.
