Leo Thorsness

Scott Johnson at Powerline tells the story of Leo Thorsness, an Air Force pilot who engaged in extraordinary exploits in Vietnam for which he was later awarded the Medal of Honor, and who shortly afterward was captured, tortured, and held prisoner by the North Vietnamese for six years. Meeting with Johnson yesterday, Thorsness joked about his experience: “He bragged, for example, about never having had a cross word with his daughter. He adds as a footnote that of course he wasn’t around from ages 11 to 17.”
