Times: Same-sex marriage not superior after all

Adela G. writes:

Do you think it’s too late to change the title of the blog entry, “A new planet of liberalism swims into our ken,” to “The same old planet of liberalism swims into our ken … again”?

We read last week in the NYT how much same-sex marriage had to teach people so misguided by some feckless combination of hormones and tradition as to marry people of the opposite sex. But now, just days later, we read in the NYT that same-sex marriage is a “mixed bag,” with some good, some bad—just like traditional marriage.

Once again, liberalism dictates that a thing is what liberals say it is—unless and until they say otherwise.

LA replies:

Yes, the next liberal utopia always turns out to be the same world we’ve always been in—or, rather, it turns out to be worse, since existing, functional arrangements had to be attacked and cast aside in order to attain that utopia.
