A thread of triumphalist right-liberal opinion that I’ve noticed over the past few years, sometimes in such places as the Wall Street Journal’s op-ed page, is one that scolds Europeans for failing to assimilate their Muslim immigrants, and advises them to do a better job of it, forthwith.
The U.S. cure for Europe’s rotting teeth is apparently … candy bars. “Look at how well we’ve assimilated our Muslims,” they tell Europe reproachfully. “That your Muslims are rioting, and fighting you, blowing you up on in your trains and knifing you in the streets and destroying your country, is your fault, not theirs. You must do more for them.” Their sage pronouncement is that instead of limiting excessive Muslim immigration and working to reduce their oppressive, alien presence in their countries, Europeans should roll out the red carpet to them. That will fix all their problems. Europeans are just too racist in failing to see that the Muslims are just misunderstood striving Europeans just like them.
Would following this advice this not catalyze the ongoing Islamic population replacement program, encouraging even more of them to come to friendly Europe? Do these commentators not realize what numbers the Muslims have already amassed in Europe, and do they not know how many traditional European towns there are now where Mohammed has become the most common name for newborn baby boys? Don’t worry, say they; just treat the hostile masses of Mohammeds and Ahmeds, Osamas and Abdullahs, as if they were French people. As if the French identity itself was so malleable and plastic, just a label meaning nothing more than whatever right-liberal Americans wish it to mean today. It’s bad enough that they’ve devalued and denigrated the peoplehood of Americans, maliciously filling Minnesota with Somalis and small-town Iowa with Iraqis, and watching in silent complicity as the American populations of the Southwestern states are replaced wholesale by hostile invaders; they want to reach across the Atlantic and debase European peoplehood as well.
Muslims in France are causing trouble? That’s because the French are not pretending hard enough that they’re just as French as the French. This is not just mindless. It’s mind-destroying, to borrow a useful phrase I’ve seen on VFR. Different people, of a different race with different faces, a different religion, a different language, with different customs and food, different social relations, different facial expressions and gestures, smelling differently and sounding differently, must not be regarded as the misfits that they are. To implement this recipe for Europe, that it assimilate its Muslims just as (supposedly) does America, Muslims must be made to feel at home in each and every European country. In Italy, clitoris-gouging Muslims, who delight in vandalizing the priceless cultural treasures that great men and a great culture left to their progeny, must be the equals of real Italians. In France, the wine-hating, adulterer-stoning Muslims must be made to feel French. In Greece, barbarians (literally) must be regarded as if they were the legitimate heirs of Socrates, Thucydides and Pericles. In Great Britain, they must be made to feel as legitimately English as the English; as Scottish as the Scottish, as Irish as the Irish, and as Welsh as the Welsh. The alien masses of Turks in Germany, whose religion forbids music itself, must be told they are as German as Handel or Bach. Not only that, but all Germans must act as if this lie was true, or it won’t work. The entire fabric of European society must re-form itself around a lie, in order to attempt to mitigate some of the worst effects of allowing massive, invasive levels of alien immigration, without having to admit that it was a disastrous mistake in the first place and should be reversed. This is not just a lie, it is a totalitarian lie. It is a call to conspire in the destruction of meaning itself.
It wouldn’t even work if it was tried, since it’s based on beliefs that do not intersect with reality on a Venn diagram. Muslims aren’t here to assimilate, and they’re not in Europe to assimilate either. The only reason Muslims are keeping their noses relatively clean in the U.S. is that they lack sufficient numbers to overwhelm us—yet. They’ve already told us their end-game. It’s the most pervasive element of their scriptures, and it’s a divinely ordained mission, an imperative felt keenly and personally by every believing Muslim for the last fourteen centuries. It’s total domination for them, and total subjugation, conversion, or death for us. “Become us, or submit to our permanent subjugation as our inferiors, or we’ll kill you.” This is the appealing bargain that Muslims offer the non-Muslim world. American dream, meet the Mohammedan dream.
Make Muslims feel at home in Europe, so they’ll assimilate? They are not at home! They shouldn’t be made to feel comfortable. Europe is the homeland of the European peoples. The insidious process of the destruction of meaning is already well under way. So many articles in the news media are already blandly alleging that the Muslim terrorists they’re writing about are “British” or “Italian” or “Canadian,” just because the terrorist in question possesses the passport of one of those countries. It’s not just wrong, it’s libelous. To practice such deception is to engage in a folly so colossal, it cries out to heaven for punishment.
