Wilders in Denmark

Geert Wilders recently gave a speech in the Danish parliament building.

It contains this memorable sentence:

I am afraid that the Netherlands is becoming less and less a country of freedom and increasingly a country of fear under the guise of tolerance.

Natan Sharansky, in his book that helped lead GW Bush over the edge into pure democracy mania (which was not entirely Sharansky’s fault), presented a somewhat simplistic but not unuseful schema which divides all societies into “freedom” societies and “fear” societies. Have Sharansky and his fellow democracy worshippers in the U.S. ever acknowledged how unfree—and fearful—Europe has become?
