Muslims flagellating themselves in America

Remember the photos the other day at Atlas Shrugs of the Ashura parade on Park Avenue, with the huge black banners (they seemed three stories high) symbolizing Shi’ite Islam, and the similarly huge white banners marked with red representing blood? That event involved no actual self-flagellation, no bleeding, but it did involve men standing on street corners ritually beating their chests while others looked on. I guess that’s an example of Muslim “assimilation” in America: No people covered in blood, just crowds of bare-chested Muslims beating their chests on Park Avenue.

However, it turns out that this “assimilated,” bloodless version of Ashura was just for Manhattan. Out in the boroughs, the Shi’ites are doing the real thing, as reported in today’s New York Daily News. In a photo in the print version of the News, we see, at an Ashura festival in Queens, a barechested Mohammedan holding a long curved knife and with his back covered with blood. The online version of the News has a photo gallery of seven photos of the Queens Ashura “observations.” They are weird, gross, and alienating, but the photo in the print version is the bloodiest.

This is happening in New York City. In the United States of America. And it’s been brought to you, NOT BY LIBERALS, NOT BY TED KENNEDY, NOT BY BILL CLINTON OR GEORGE BUSH OR JOHN MCCAIN, BUT BY EVERY ONE OF US WHO HAS ACCEPTED THE NON-DISCRIMINATORY IMMIGRATION OF MUSLIMS IN THIS COUNTRY FOR THE LAST FORTY YEARS.

I especially liked the caption to this picture:

“Although self-flagellation is a painful and bloody act, Shi’ites believe it to be a statement against violence.”

Uh…. yeah… the casual observer, looking at these pictures, can instantly appreciate that people flogging each other with long chains tipped with sharp blades are making a “statement against violence.”

Terry Morris writes:

Remember a few months back when you laid out how Muslims perform this weird foot-washing ritual of theirs? You said then something to the effect of “what American is there that can honestly say that this kind of thing belongs in America?” The question pertains here as well.

I did a post at Webster’s Blogspot this morning on this subject warning that short of taking radical steps which you suggest to stop this (stop all Muslim immigration to this country and begin an out migration of Muslims from this country), I predict within the short span of time of ten to fifteen years, this kind of thing is coming to a city or a town near you. And I’m supremely confident that this will indeed be the case short of taking the necessary steps to stop it. I needn’t look any further than radical homosexuality in this country which, over the last fifteen years, has gained great ground in America. That’s the example I choose to use because, like Islam, homosexuality is at the core radical. Neither of these “lifestyles” can result in anything but radicalism given free reign. And your concluding line in all caps, with slight editing, applies to homosexuality as well.

LA replies:

Here are several VFR articles on foot-washing, and I think this may be the one Mr. Morris means.

Terry Morris continues:

By the way, thank you for saying what you said in that concluding sentence of this entry. I’ve said similar things so many times in the past I can’t count them all. These people you identify, liberals, John McCain, Ted Kennedy, et al, they’re just representatives of this people whose power to effect policy on immigration or whatever emanates from this people. Every American should go to the mirror, take a good look at himself, and repeat these words: I am John McCain; I am Ted Kennedy; I am President Bush; I am President Clinton … I am an enabler of radical Islam in America.

An Ashura festival parade in New York City? That’s disgusting. Truly disgusting. We don’t even have any such parade here in Dearbornistan, Michigan.

There is not doubt that as you say, this is the result of LIBERALISM and it’s shutting down of any rational debate about the bigger issues involved in mass immigration. It’s also a sign that the USA has little or no interest in maintaining any standards, customs, traditions, rules—even such things as enforcing immigration laws because nowadays, it’s considered “mean-spirited.”

However we mustn’t be angry at the ritualistic Muslims, practicing their “religion/ideology.” It’s their nature. It’s who and what they are. If we don’t object, they will bring every 7th century custom to Mainstreet USA.
