Race consciousness for nonwhites and race blindness for whites

Alex writes:

Further to your observation that the Science Museum in London shows its typical visitors as being all nonwhite, even though only 10 percent of the population of Britain is nonwhite, the effort to represent Britain as a “vibrant and growing multi-cultural community” goes way beyond the racial headcounting which takes place at stately homes and cultural organizations. Even utility bills are accompanied by publicity material in which the “typical” customer is a black or Asian family.

LA replies:

And try to imagine your typical conservative/neoconservative criticizing something like that. In order to see the badness and offensiveness of falsely portraying a historically 100 percent and currently 90 percent white country as nonwhite, a person would have to have some racial consciousness of himself and his country as white.

The left is race conscious and is pushing nonwhiteness. But the conservatives, upholding race blindness as their highest ideal, are incapable of opposing the left’s race-conscious promotion of nonwhiteness. A conservatism devoid of race consciousness cannot be a serious conservatism.
