King Dan Approximately

Now that a prominent and respected Islam critic has finally broken the ice of orthodoxy and disagreed publicly and by name with Daniel Pipes’s ridiculous assertions about the nature of Islam, perhaps the time has come to post a little satire about him I drafted last year. Nothing personal. As I always readily acknowledge, Pipes is an effective activist against the radical Islamic organizations like CAIR. But, in his role as a teacher about Islam, Pipes is America’s number one promoter of the delusive and mortally dangerous theory that there is such a thing as moderate Islam that we can be buddies with and welcome into the West. Also, as I’ve shown over and over, he contradicts himself on the subject every time he writes. A person who daily parades his hopeless confusions on a vitally important subject under the cover of supposed expert knowledge does not deserve any particular deference.

KING DAN APPROXIMATELY
(with apologies to Bob Dylan)

When your funders send back all your solicitations
And your bloggers to each other they explain
That you’re tired of yourself and all of your evasions
Won’t you come see me, King Dan?
Won’t you come see me, King Dan?

When your tv appearances start to bore you
And you’re steadily losing your fans
And all the conservatives start to ignore you
Won’t you come see me, King Dan?
Won’t you come see me, King Dan?

When your hopes for moderate Islam have been extinguished
And you realize that we need a better plan
And you discover that Bernard Lewis ain’t so distinguished
Won’t you come see me, King Dan?
Won’t you come see me, King Dan?

When all of your readers diss your theories
And the truth about Islam they demand
And you don’t know how to answer their queries
Won’t you come see me, King Dan?
Won’t you come see me, King Dan?

Very creative…..I wonder if Pipes is a Dylan fan….Maybe a moderate one….
