Epidemic of suicides by Asian women in Britain

Paul K. sent me a sad and revealing article about Muslim life in Great Britain:

Rail suicides are soaring because of a dramatic rise in Asian women killing themselves on just one stretch of track, a train company’s internal report has revealed.

An incredible one third of the total for England and Wales now happen on the line going through Southall, West London, which has a large Asian community.

Last night a women’s rights group controversially claimed that the suicides were linked to the “prevalence of domestic violence in Asian families”…

And the toll of all suicides is so high it has even had a measurable impact on First Great Western’s performance—with tracks usually closed for an hour after a body is found and a knock-on effect on services that lasts all day.

This reminds me of a harrowing story from Britain I quoted a couple of months ago (no link at the moment), in which a young woman who had escaped from her father who was seeking to “honor-kill” her said that in their native country, young women accepted their lot in life, but for Muslims living in the West, the customary restrictions are unbearable, leading to the honor killings and other family conflicts.
