Good riddance

Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Nebraska, one of the most worthless public figures in modern American politics, whose entire career as a favorite of the mainstream media has been based on his unending series of leftist-style cheap shots (as distinct from meaningful and useful criticisms) directed at President Bush’s foreign policy, who also (sorry, but I can’t separate these thoughts from my image of him) seems to have no forehead, and whose features seem fixed in the sullen expression of a thug, and who, when I’ve seen him on television, makes me think that this is the way a Neanderthal would look if dressed in a suit and tie, is retiring from the Senate.

Oh, and I didn’t mention that he was a leading sponsor of the Kill-America immigration bill, one of the versions of which was named after him and the Cuban-(anti-)American senator from Florida, Mel Martinez.

This being one of those rare times when the hearts of the L-dotters beat in sync with mine, here is a selection of their reactions to the news of Hagel’s retirement.

Comments:

Just don’t help the DemocRATS wave the white flag before you leave, Chuck.

Headed off to the RHINO graveyard…

I won’t miss Senator Hagel. He puts my teeth on edge. However, this is yet another Republican seat to fill. Get out your checkbooks, friends, the RNC is going to need us all.

And the bad news is? Wow, there is a God. This guy is a pathetic loser and flamer and it can’t be quick enough for me. I just hope Chuck realizes his potential in the private world and take up something he can handle for work—like being the line cook at McD’s. On second thought, that may require way more skills than this t__d ever had or will have. Oh, did I mention don’t let the door hit you in the butt on your way out? Freaking jerk—good riddance. Oh by the way, your existence in Congress hurt the country and did nothing for anyone, except maybe the Islamo Fascist Terrorists who want to kill us all. Thanks for that, you moron.

Gosh, which Republican will the MSM now use to undercut the Republican party?

Reply 11—Posted by: AngryAmerican, 9/8/2007 6:33:50 AM

Why should the best country in the world have a 5th rate congress and 5th rate press? It’s time to get all the head cases like Hagel out of power.

Hagel is still stuck, as is Kerrey, in Viet Nam era mindset. His decision to not run again is music to my ears.

Our troops in the field will be heartened by his departure.

One less Quisling in the GOP. Good.

Great news! And I just detest the Presstitutes for giving this clown cachet by calling him ”maverick.” He is a Raving Moonbat!

With a doubt the best news I’ve heard this month…Worse case, if the Demoscum win this seat, it really isn’t a loss—given the way ol’ chuck went about this buisness. so glad to see this idiot gone.

Reply 20—Posted by: Intentional, 9/8/2007 8:06:55 AM

I’m pleased. Hagel was a waste. Now, come on Nebraska, fill that seat with someone with a brain and courage. Hagel had neither.

Reply 21—Posted by: doingwhatican, 9/8/2007 8:26:43 AM

What a loss….for the dems.

If only Lindsey Graham and Arlen Specter would do the same.

Reply 24—Posted by: wilko, 9/8/2007 8:36:41 AM

Hagel gave vietnam vets a bad name.

Reply 25—Posted by: NorthernDog, 9/8/2007 8:53:26 AM

I will shed no tears over his departure. Hagel has that dispicable martyr complex ( a la Jimmay Carter) where he thinks he alone is carrying the weight on the world’s fate on his shoulders. Now go write your nasty little book about how Republicans were ”mean” to you. All the moonbats will applaud it, but few will buy it.

Reply 27—Posted by: OMyMy, 9/8/2007 8:55:05 AM

Hagel will be sorely missed…by Pelosi and Reid.

Reply 32—Posted by: Duke of Duval, 9/8/2007 9:09:19 AM

I don’t live near NE but just reading the postings from those who DO, wow, that guy must have been the king of RINOs.

Reply 33—Posted by: GOPlease, 9/8/2007 9:15:34 AM

Hagel is a good reason for not doing away with tar and feathers….

Reply 38—Posted by: Pigtails, 9/8/2007 9:35:28 AM

*cheering* *applauding*

With friends like you Chuckie who needs the Dems?

Reply 43—Posted by: Dolley Madison, 9/8/2007 10:04:46 AM

Good-bye, Hagel! No one will miss you, except for the leftists.

He stood against this president on Iraq; of course the president was angry with him! If money dried up for him, he had only himself to blame.

Imagine, believing LBJ on anything, especially VietNam!! He was a loser.

Reply 45—Posted by: Coy860, 9/8/2007 10:19:22 AM

Good Riddance.

I hope Hagel gets a copy of this entire thread as a good bye gift.

He has ill served his party.

Reply 48—Posted by: Showmeguy, 9/8/2007 10:43:48 AM

Hagel’s undoing was his massive ego. He quickly discovered that playing the part of “Repubican renegade” got him air time with the Sunday AM talking heads—and he LOVES the camera almost as much as another Chuck—Slimey Schumer.

I really think it’s as simple as that. Hagel’s an empty suit in search of a parade that he can get in front of.

To those people living outside Nebraska I can see how they would wonder why we sent such a person to the Senate for two terms. However, to be fair, he did not start his RINO impression until after he was reelected. That he is not running again is a better picture of the rank and file people of Nebraska. Trust me, over the last few years he has been given a very clear message that is not representing the average Nebraskan and he is no longer welcome. Do you think for one minute that he would give up his position if he had a change of winning and other term? The only problem now is that the eastern part of the state is rather blue with the large liberal populations of Omaha and Lincoln. It takes most of the rest of state to overcome them and now that Kerry is making noise of coming back it could be a tight race this year.

Hooray!

Reply 54—Posted by: bighambone, 9/8/2007 12:09:26 PM

Hagel was one of the big amnesty for illegal alien guys. In Nebraska a couple of years ago former Nebraska football coach Tom Osborn, a legendary figure there, was running for Governor and made the mistake of backing amnesty for illegal aliens, his campaign crashed, and he lost.

Hagel knows that his stance on amnesty for illegal aliens was very unpopular in the State of Nebraska and that he would have had a very hard time being re-elected, if he even got past the Republican primary. He like Bob Kerrey is a millionaire carpetbagger, Kerrey lives in New York and Hagel lives in Virginia, clearly they have moved past Nebraska, and into the liberal hinderland.

Good riddance. Now get lost. Dope !

ABOUT TIME,TOO!

Hagel looks and sounds like a raging alcoholic. I remember when he carried water for Hezbollah last year.
