Mayor: Don’t Send Us Iraqi Refugees

According to WXYZ.com in Detroit, Mayor Mark Steenbergh or Warren, Michigan

claims the federal government is looking to relocate more than 16,000 Iraqi refugees to Warren and Sterling Heights—and there’s no way his city can handle it.

Here is a Detroit discussion forum on this story.

John D. writes:

Unbelievable! Out of 27 posts on the article, not one person with a single misgiving about the probability that when the Iraqi’s settle, they will inevitably bring with them their Iraqi culture of conflict. The posters’ main concern is the lack of jobs for these people.

Many of the refugees may very well be Christians, but the assimilability of these exiles is highly unlikely due to the violence they have either been subject to, or a direct participant of, and especially given the hostile nature of the nation of their origin. This is very worrisome.
