Mike Huckabee

Speaking at the Lincoln Day dinner of the Iowa Republican party that is being shown on C-SPAN this weekend, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee says he wants to be a president who will speak for all the sick and suffering people in America. Most of his speech consisted of heart-rending stories of sick Americans who didn’t get the medical care they needed, and as a result died. I thought the job of the president was to look after the country as a whole, not to be concerned about every individual’s misfortunes. Translated into law Huckabee’s emotional anecdotes mean nothing other than socialized medicine. Huckabee calls himself a conservative.
