Brilliant!

A reader has sent to David Frum an absolutely brilliant solution to the illegal alien problem. Why did no one ever think of this before? Simply change the tax code to say that expenditures for wages and benefits of employees shall be deductible for tax purposes only for those employees that the employer can prove are legal residents of the U.S. No policing and criminalization of employers would be needed. Each employer would have an immediate interest in making sure that all his employees are legal residents, which he could easily do via a government data base of social security numbers.
