How Bush became president

It’s not the main point of the article, which is about the Voting Rights Act, but in passing Steve Sailer boils down the meaning of the Florida 2000 election controversy. More voters went into the ballot booth on election day intending to vote for Gore than for Bush, but a large number of black supporters of Gore invalidated their own ballots by voting for more than one candidate, and that was what threw the vote to Bush. Bush won Florida, and the Presidency, because of the incompetence of black Democratic voters.
