Degrading America in order to promote Iraq

Ilana Mercer develops the idea, with a nod to me, that President Bush’s repeated comparison between the obstacles that Iraq faces in the path of democracy and the obstacles that America historically faced (and still faces, Bush and Rice constantly remind us) is highly objectionable. To suggest that the absence of the women’s francise in 19th century America was equal in oppressiveness to the treatment of women under sharia (as Bush and Rice have repeatedly done) is nothing less than an expresson of hatred for America. That hatred is typical of liberals, of which Bush is one.
