Decisive refutation of Bush’s democratize-the-Moslems strategy

Sending me a Thomas Friedman column on the Newsweek riots and what they portend, a reader notes:

Here is what I mean about the hopelessness of the exercise of trying to democratize the Middle East. The jihadists are blowing up other Muslims every day in Iraq, but no mass protests. One stray story about “desecration” of the Koran by “infidels,” and thousands protest.

The reader’s brief summary of the meaning of the column is better than the column itself, and reaches a conclusion that Thomas Friedman, terminal liberal, wouldn’t dream of.
