The fall of Rome and us: a not-so-distant mirror

A commenter on my article at FrontPage constructs an analogy between the attitudes of today’s complacent elites towards mass Third World immigration and affirmative action, and the thoughts of a complacent Third-Century Roman as he contemplates (or rather as he smugly ignores) the steady barbarian advances at the margin of the empire .
