Where we are now

The amazing news just doesn’t stop. And how could it stop? The United States has adopted rhetoric and policy that blatantly fly in the face of reality. So it’s inevitable that every day’s news brings some stunning rebuke. The administration and its supporters can only maintain their optimism—not to mention their exhilaration, their joy, and their ecstasy at the victory of “freedom” in Iraq—by a most rigid exercise of Orwellian doublethink.
