What’s happening

I’ve been working all afternoon and evening on an article on the antiwar right and the politics of anger that may be published at FrontPage Magazine tomorrow, and so haven’t had the time to post here.

I also still need to install the upgraded version of the comment spam blocking software, MT Blacklist, before I can open the comments again. But frankly, even with the MT Blacklist working, so many junk comments were coming in (that is, comments that were not yet on the Blacklist) prior to the breakdown of VFR due to a massive spam attack on Thanksgiving Day that it was becoming a major drag. Several times a day I would have to delete comment spam, and each time, even with MT Blacklist, it takes a series of steps to do it. Comment spam first appeared as a major problem when I re-enabled the comments feature a week before the election. It had never been an issue before, so I guess the evil little demons who run these comment spam generating machines are getting more and more aggressive. In any case, if the problem continues, I may be forced to do something that I have no absolutely no inclination to do: require registration for VFR participants.
