We reap what we sow—and what we’ve sown is nihilism

A letter to the New York Daily News, December 18:

Rosedale: I wanted to add my two cents to what Voicer Dorothy D’Amato said in her letter: She’s correct. We reap what we sow. Back in 1985, there was a teacher shortage in the city. Those of us with a bachelor’s degree in anything were recruited and licensed. I was given a one-day seminar before being tossed into the classroom. At the seminar I attended, a representative from the Board of Education told us we were forbidden to try to impose any of our values on the students. Louise M. Walton
