The unreal world of the Republicans/neocons

In the current issue of The Weekly Standard (the one with “Four More Years” on the cover), Fred Barnes says that the election is not the catastrophe that many conservatives are saying it is, but actually contains much good news that should encourage us. As an example of this good and hopeful news, he points to a poll showing that 49 percent of the American people oppose Obamacare, and only 44 percent support it.

This is as logical as saying, that if Nazi Germany had invaded and conquered Britain in the summer of 1940, and if a poll was taken showing that 49 percent of the British people opposed the Nazi conquest, and only 44 percent supported it, that would be good news, showing that the Nazi conquest was not the catastrophe that people thought it was.
