Atlas back from the dead

I saw Atlas Shrugged Part II last evening. While I would not say that it is altogether a good movie, it is far better than Part I, which I described as “Atlas Died.” The new installment has some human, dramatic life in it. It especially brings to life the Dagny Taggart character. She is no ice princess; you feel her suffering and her stress as she struggles against the mounting forces of destruction that surround her. The casting in general is much better than in Part I, though the actor playing Henry Rearden is terribly miscast. Some of the interiors—the semi-futuristic offices for example—are beautifully designed. On balance, despite its numerous serious flaws, it was worth seeing.
