350 pound black man repeatedly slashes white man in Greenwich Village McDonald’s

UPDATE, September 22, 12:30 p.m. The Daily News has updated and almost totally re-written the story they previously updated at 8:16 p.m. last night. Now the headline is:

Man defending his transgender girlfriend slashed by 350-pound man at Greenwich Village McDonald’s

Also, the story now has photographs with names of the victim and his “girlfriend,” and they are black, as I suspected. In updating the previous story, the Daily News erased it instead of posting a new story with a different url. Fortunately I had copied the earlier version below, so that it can be compared with the newer version.

UPDATE, September 21, 8:30 p.m.: The Fox News story is very general and leaves out all the pertinent facts of the encounter; it is non-journalism. The New York Daily News provides a blow by blow account, sent by a reader. The victim and his “partner” were both cross-dressing young men. The “partner” was waiting to use the women’s room in the McDonald’s, and the black man said “You f------ f-----! You’re using the wrong bathroom.” Further, the two cross dressers were the ones who actually initiated violence, one of them swinging at the suspect and the other kneeing the suspect in the groin and hitting him in the face. That’s when the suspect brought out a razor and attacked one of the cross-dressers. So the suspect was attacking in response to an attack; he was not simply attacking out of “anti-gay hate.” Calling this a hate-crime seems very strained. Further, it seems unlikely that two white cross-dressing homosexuals would initiate a physical attack on a 350 pound hostile black man. So it seems the victim of the razor slashing could well have been black himself, contrary to my earlier guess that he was white. But there’s no way of knowing from the account.

Actually the story, from Fox News, does not tell us that the victim was white, which he almost certainly was. It does tell us that the victim was homosexual:

NEW YORK - The NYPD is looking for a man who could weigh up to 350 pounds in connection with a hate crime inside a Manhattan McDonald’s.

It is the same West Village McDonald’s that was the scene of another anti-gay attack in 2011.

See? If the victim is homosexual, the “conservative” Fox News rushes to call it, in the first two sentences of the article, a “hate crime” and an “anti-gay” attack. Meanwhile, the thousands of unprovoked black-on-white attacks, disfigurements, and wildings going on in this country are virtually never referred to as a “hate crime,” and absolutely never as an “anti-white” attack.

Here’s the article:

NEW YORK -

The NYPD is looking for a man who could weigh up to 350 pounds in connection with a hate crime inside a Manhattan McDonald’s.

It is the same West Village McDonald’s that was the scene of another anti-gay attack in 2011.

Police say a 22-year-old man was attacked with a razor blade inside the restaurant on West 3rd Street on Wednesday evening.

Police say the suspect made anti-gay remarks to the victim at about 7 p.m. It turned physical and then the suspect took out a blade.

He slashed the victim in the face, back, neck and elbow before running away.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital and required multiple stitches for his injuries.

The suspect is black, 35-40 years old, 5’9” to 5’10” and weighs between 300-350 pounds.

UPDATE: Here is the NY Daily News article which gives the full story:

Man, 22, slashed with razor amid gay slurs in Greenwich Village McDonald’s
A McDonald’s in Greenwich Village, notorious for previous acts of violence, was the scene of yet another attack when A 350-pound man used gay slurs to berate a 22-year-old then used a razor to slash the victim across the face and neck.
[LA replies: Note how this subheadline leaves out the fact that the physical violence was initiated by the two cross-dressers, not by the black man, though the story itself includes that fact.]

A 22-year-old man who was dressed as a woman was slashed across the face and neck by a 350-pound attacker who taunted the victim and his partner at a crime-plagued Greenwich Village McDonald’s, police said Friday.

The Wednesday night hate crime took place about 7 p.m. at the W. Third St. McDonald’s that’s been the site of three other assaults, including one other gay bashing, over the last 18 months.

Police said the latest violence erupted when the slasher began an expletive-laced taunt of the victim’s partner, a man who was dressed as a woman and was waiting to use the women’s bathroom.

“You f------ f-----,” the attacker yelled, according to a police source. “You’re using the wrong bathroom.”

The victim got angry, telling the suspect, “You see, that’s how people get into trouble.”

The 22-year-old and his partner then left the restaurant, but were followed by the hefty, backpack-wearing man clad in a plaid shirt.

“What are you going to do?” he asked them outside the restaurant, a police source said.

The victim’s partner took a swing at the suspect. He missed, but the 22-year-old stepped in, police said.

He kneed the suspect in the groin and hit him in the face, police said. The burly man fell to the ground, climbed back on his feet and then pulled out a razor, using it to cut the victim’s face, neck, back and elbow, police said.

The victim was treated at Bellevue Hospital Center.

Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.

In March, five men brawled outside the same McDonald’s and video of the fight was posted on YouTube.

In October, a McDonald’s employee used a pipe to beat two women who ran around the cashier’s counter and attacked him. The worker was arrested but later cleared by a grand jury. The women pleaded guilty last week.

In March 2011, 26-year-old Damian Furtch was attacked and badly beaten at the fast-food joint by a man who didn’t like that he was wearing pink shoelaces.

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, the city’s most prominent gay pol, said McDonald’s has taken steps to improve security.

“If we have one hate crime there is too many,” she said.

LA to Jonathan W., who sent the Daily News article:

This is just wild. There were TWO young men dressed as women. And THEY started the actual violence.

Would two white cross-dressers initiate a physical attack on a 350 pound hostile black man? So it seems to me the victim of the razor slashing was more probably black. But who knows?

Jonathan W. replies:

I was wondering that myself actually. Obviously, the slasher’s reaction was disproportionate to the force used against him, but it’s like you’ve said all along. When society accepts perverse and unnatural behavior, and bullies everyone else into celebrating it as well, these types of things are going to happen more and more frequently. Men who desire to dress up as women belong in mental institutions. They don’t belong out on the street using women’s bathrooms.

Paul K. writes:

You wrote, “Further, it seems unlikely that two white cross-dressing homosexuals would initiate a physical attack on a 350 pound hostile black man.”

You’re expecting common sense from cross-dressing homosexuals? It’s a given that they are mentally imbalanced. They are also often drug users and prone to violence.

LA replies:

You’re right. I was thinking in terms of their being generic Greenwich Village homosexuals, not in terms of their being cross dressers. The latter are much more likely to be crazy and aggressive.

Buck, who sent the latest update of the Daily News story, writes:

The Daily News story up at 11:30 a.m. today has photos of the victims. One, a black male homosexual, with boxing skills, was defending his “big-bellied ogre” transvestite/transsexual “girl” friend from the 350 pound “big-bellied ogre” who insulted “her” and attacked him.
