The Soon-Yi affair as a paradigm of liberalism

Diana West writes:

On Ronan Allen—You mention Mia Farrow’s “bizarre multi-racial adoptive ‘family.’” Did you notice the young man’s job?

He is currently serving as special adviser to the Secretary of State for Global Youth Issues and director of the State Department’s Global Youth Issues office.

LA replies:

Another commenter brought out the same point about Ronan. That is funny, that this young man, who was conceived as part of an artificial “global family” a sort of mini-UN consisting of multi-racial, multi-national adopted children (plus one biological child, himself), now works as “special adviser to the Secretary of State for Global Youth Issues and director of the State Department’s Global Youth Issues office.”

So he has taken after his mother not only in physical appearance, but philosophically. She was the one who constructed the global family, not Woody Allen.

Which reminds me of my take on the Soon-Yi affair back in 1992. I said it was a paradigm of liberalism.

Mia Farrow constructed this multi-racial family, just as America has turned itself into a multiracial, multicultural country. She assumed that her lover Woody Allen was “with the program,” that he saw this family as a family, just as liberal America simply assumed that all its people, whites and nonwhites, were on board with the multicultural program. But in fact liberal America had not actually got people’s consent to this extremely artificial arrangement—it had forced it on them. Similarly, Allen was not with the program. He saw Soon-Yi, not as his mistress’ daughter and part of his family, but as an available female and suitable object of his desires. By acting on the desires of his heart, he destroyed the family, split Soon-Yi permanently from her mother, and alienated his own biological son permanently from himself. In the same way, all kinds of intergroup conflicts arise within our multiracial, multicultural society which according to liberalism are not supposed to happen, but they happen anyway. Liberalism assumes an artificial unity of disparate peoples which in reality does not exist. In its attempt to construct a perfect unity that goes against human nature, liberalism increases human conflict and destructiveness. In its attempt to create a utopian good, it destroys the good that actually exists and that can exist.

So Woody just took advantage of the global family construct Mia created…

LA replies:

Exactly. And the same thing applies on the macro scale, as I indicated. Think of all the criminal and horrible ways unprincipled people take advantage of the borderless, normless world created by well-meaning (Mia Farrow-type) liberals.
