The latest fruit of Muslim democracy! A proposed law allowing husbands to have intercourse with their deceased wives

Don’t blame me, I’m just reporting what the Daily Mail is saying. And don’t blame the Daily Mail, they’re just reporting what people in Egypt are saying. The Egyptians really are debating such a law:

TV anchor Jaber al-Qarmouty slammed the notion of letting a husband have sex with his wife after her death under the so-called ‘Farewell Intercourse’ draft law.

He said: ‘This is very serious. Could the panel that will draft the Egyptian constitution possibly discuss such issues? Did Abdul Samea see by his own eyes the text of the message sent by Talawi to Katatni?

‘This is unbelievable. It is a catastrophe to give the husband such a right! Has the Islamic trend reached that far? Is there really a draft law in this regard? Are there people thinking in this manner?’

I remember several years ago when some North American Muslim leaders issued a fatwa stating that it was wrong to kill innocent people. I don’t know about you, but I kind of had that figured out by the time I was in the first grade. But apparently that was a new concept for some Muslims.

Comes now “farewell intercourse,” aka “having sex with a dead body.” You know that a religion has gone off the rails when it’s impossible to tell the difference between a proposed religious precept and a bad joke. When I told my wife about farewell intercourse she scowled at me and said “are you kidding?” I said I wasn’t, and promised her that if she dies before me I won’t have sex with her corpse, and she said if the roles are reversed she’ll return the favor.

Muslims don’t like it when we infidels ridicule Islam, and they have a point. We don’t need to ridicule Islam because Islam is a self-ridiculing religion. Some Imam or other is always coming up with a new teaching or decree that is more preposterous than anything the most clever infidel could come up with. Farewell intercourse is a tough act to follow, but rest assured, some Imam will eventually top even that.
