Would anyone have predicted this?

This is just an expression of a personal feeling, and has no significance in the scheme of things.

I am disconsolate that it’s Santorum who is the remaining conservative alternative, rather than Michele Bachmann. It should have been her. She should have been the contender.

Last spring, around the time Bachmann declared her candidacy, a mainstream pundit predicted that the race would boil down to Romney and her. Instead it’s boiled down to Romney and Santorum.

If Bachmann had gotten Bob VanderPlaats’ endorsement in Iowa, my life would be very different right now.
More importantly, we would be looking at an event that could have changed this nation’s course, and we could be looking optimistically at the future. Perhaps the dismantling of the liberal paradigm.
It’s all too painful!
