Why Daley resigned

Financial writer Charles Gasparino in the New York Post has an interesting take on the resignation of William Daley as Obama’s chief of staff. Daley took the job a year ago on the understanding that the Democrats’ “shellacking” in the 2010 elections meant the administration had to move to the center if Obama were to have a chance of re-election. But Obama and his inner circle made the opposite determination, moving harder to the left instead of to the center, and as a result Daley was frozen out.
