The big liberal myth

Dennis G. writes:

There appears to be a big liberal myth that there is a line in history and human psychology that all people can move towards and cross. This line is a transition from oppression to liberation where liberation is the acquisition of all things Western. Any culture can cross this line—Muslim, African, South American, etc.—because all people are ontologically the same. This move can be done through revolution or evolution—any type of movement absolute or incremental. It can be encouraged, supplemented, helped, inspired and even forced by right thinking people of good will. The ultimate goal is when all people, all cultures and all nations have moved across this line. Then humanity will be one—all things unified and universal. The big myth that keeps liberals working before they can achieve their rest (or give us a rest).
