Positively (Black) 4th Street: Irate female customer in a Greenwich Village McDonalds slaps male cashier in face, leaps over counter; cashier beats her and friend with metal rod.

While the implosion of the white left continued in Zuccotti Park next to the World Trade Center on Thursday, the implosion of black America continued in a McDonald’s in Greenwich Village. Huffington Post reports:

Rayon McIntosh, McDonald’s Cashier, Caught On Camera Beating Customers With Metal Rod

GREENWICH VILLAGE—A McDonald’s cashier is caught on a horrific cell phone video using a metal rod to brutally beat two female customers who’d jumped the counter of his West 4th Street restaurant early Thursday during a fight over their order. [See the video at Huffington Post.]

The cashier, who police said had previously served a decade for manslaughter, beat the women so badly that one suffered a fractured skull and broken arm in the shocking attack, which was captured on a customer’s cell phone and then posted to YouTube.

Police have charged the cashier, identified as Rayon McIntosh, 31, with felony assault charges, along with criminal possession of a weapon. Both women were charged with menacing, trespass and disorderly conduct. He is being held at the Manhattan Detention Complex on $40,000 bail, according to the Department of Correction website.

The drama began about 12:30 a.m. Thursday when the two customers—Denise Darbeau, 24, of Queens, and her pal, Rachel Edwards, 24, of Brooklyn—entered the popular fast food spot and began giving McIntosh a hard time, police sources said.

In the video, Darbeau, 24, of Queens, is clearly heard cursing at McIntosh after the cashier told her he had to scan a $50 bill to make sure it was authentic before he would give them their food.

That’s when all hell breaks loose.

An agitated Darbeau is seen slapping McIntosh across the face, prompting him to lunge forward and shove the two women.

Darbeau leaps onto the counter and clears the other side while Edwards retreats to the other end of the restaurant, according to the video.

Suddenly, McIntosh reappears on the video, brandishing a metal rod, which he slams onto Darbeau’s head.

The video, which has audio, is peppered with patrons screaming and wailing in horror and the chilling sound of the metal rod repeatedly whipping through the air and hitting Darbeau and Edwards.

“Stop it! Stop! Stop! Oh my God!” one woman is heard screaming. “Someone call police!”

Fellow workers can be seen on the video unsuccessfully trying to restrain McIntosh. Sources say McIntosh ordered his assailants to stay down, and belted them each time they tried to get up. The continued beating is partially hidden from the camera by the counter.

The two women were taken to the hospital. Darbeau suffered a fractured skull and broken arm which required surgery, according to court documents. She is in stable condition. Edwards suffered a deep cut.

McIntosh served more than a decade in prison after being convicted of shooting and killing Oshan Litchmore, 17, a classmate at Bronx’s Evander Childs High School in 2000, when he was only 19 years old. [LA notes: For the record, Rayon killed Oshan.] The two teens were outside Macy’s at the Galleria Mall in Westchester when they got into an argument. The fatal bullet passed through Litchmore and hit an eight-year-old passerby in the leg.

McIntosh, who presently lives in the Bronx, was sentenced to 10 to 12 1/2 years in prison. He was paroled last March after serving 11 years, and has been working in the Village McDonald’s since then, according to police sources.

McIntosh is due back in court Oct. 18.

Note: though the story is posted at Huffington Post, it’s by Murray Weiss, a long-time reporter at the New York Post. Yet there’s no acknowledgement that the story comes from the Post. It looks as though HuffPo is stealing articles from other publications, unless Weiss has left the Post for HuffPo.

The latter seems to be the case, since here is the New York Post’s own, much shorter story on the incident:

Brutal Village McD’s attack (VIDEO)

A West Village McDonald’s cashier savagely beat two women customers with a metal rod after they angrily jumped the counter—a disturbing beat-down caught on camera and posted to YouTube.

“Stop it! Stop! Stop! Oh, my God!” one woman is heard screaming. “Someone call police!”

One woman had a fractured skull and broken arm, and the other suffered cuts from the early Thursday brawl at the fast food restaurant on West Third Street near Sixth Avenue, court papers showed.

Rayon McIntosh, 31, of The Bronx—who in 2000 was convicted of manslaughter—was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Customers Denise Darbeau, 24, of Queens, and Rachel Edwards, 24, of Brooklyn, were charged with menacing, according to WPIX/Channel 11.

Burger ‘basher’ hailed

He’s become a McHero.

Online supporters are hailing the McDonald’s cashier caught on shocking video bashing two patrons who hopped the counter during a fight at the West Village location.

The Rayon McIntosh Defense Fund has been set up on Facebook and is just one of several cyber-support pages.

The 31-year-old worker’s dad is also solidly in his son’s corner.

“You can’t go into a person’s workplace and attack them,” Rayon McIntosh Sr., 54, told The Post. “Let’s be real now—this was self-defense.”

McIntosh Jr.—an ex-con who served nearly 11 years for manslaughter, assault and weapons charges—is caught on tape using a metal rod to beat patrons Denise Darbeau, 24, and Rachel Edwards, 24, breaking Darbeau’s skull and arm and cutting Edwards.

The fight began when the gals cussed McIntosh after he questioned a $50 bill they passed him.

Darbeau slapped him and jumped over the counter as her gal pal jumped into the fray.

McIntosh is charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He was also fired.

His father plans to order up a good defense layer.

“We will not be railroaded,” he said.

The first story from the New York Post starts, “A West Village McDonald’s cashier savagely beat two women customers with a metal rod after they angrily jumped the counter …”

I would rewrite that to read, “A West Village McDonald’s cashier [angrily] beat two women customers with a metal rod after they [savagely] jumped the counter … ”

This incident was instigated by the women, whose behavior should be described as savage. In a minor dispute with a clerk, they immediately began cursing him, slapped his face, and leaped over the counter to continue their assault. This is extraordinarily aggressive behavior from women but has become all too common among those of the black race, as we see from security videos. In this case, the women encountered not their usual prey, some meek law-abiding citizen horrified by their savagery, but a fellow only too ready to deal with them. It was what we call “a failure of the victim-selection process.”

I do not feel the least bit sorry for the women. Perhaps as this video goes viral others of their ilk will think twice about going wild in restaurants, leaping the counter, and trashing the place, as this black woman did last March in Florida.

I feel some sympathy for the clerk, who may have been trying to straighten himself out but now faces another stretch in prison. He may very well be a sociopath but in this case he was provoked. My view is that the onus lies on the person who initiates violence, not the victim who may over-react in responding to it.

Dean Ericson writes:

Clearly a case of self defense. Rayon McIntosh (Rayon McIntosh? Lol.) knew that two black women attacking constituted a potentially mortal threat and he defended himself accordingly. Until both attackers were down on the ground and stayed there he couldn’t be sure he would not be shot or knifed or had a boiling vat of french fry oil poured on him by the two. It looks excessive to the bystanders because they’re not familiar with life-threatening gang-banger situations. McIntosh knows the danger he’s in because he knows his own kind. (Good thing McIntosh wasn’t a white man or this could set off a race riot. But then, if he was a white man he probably would have let himself be killed and eaten.)

Mark A. writes:

Missing from the discussion is the issue of the video. I would bet a large sum of money that the two instigators set this up due to the fact that the video, which was probably recorded by a friend, starts well before they jumped the counter. Like the slapping videos that have gone around youtube (i.e. the videos where blacks record themselves slapping random people—usually white—on the street), these scum thought it would be hilarious to post a video of them slapping a poor cashier at McDonald’s. Little did they realize that they were dealing with a hardened criminal.

Beth M. writes:

1) Was the $50 genuine or counterfeit?

2) How badly would your fast food order have to be messed up before you would jump a counter and start slapping somebody? White folks WALK OUT (without the food/without paying) when they encounter insolence, incompetence, slow-motion service, etc. “I’ll be taking my business elsewhere” is a long-established custom for Whitey. Black folks need to figure out that it just isn’t worth it to spend a couple of years in jail to get even with somebody for handing out cold burgers, or leaving the biscuits out of an order of KFC.
