Obama’s staggeringly low approval rating among independents, and what it presages

I predicted it, and now Charlie K. agrees: Zippy is going down in a landslide.

LA replies:

Krauthammer points out that Obama, whose election in 2008 was based on the support of independents, now has 31 percent approval among independents. He says that “if Obama cannot rise from the 31 percent approval he has among independents he is going to suffer a landslide.”

I’m thinking that this could serve as a benchmark for Dick Morris’s prediction that Obama may do an LBJ and withdraw from the race. If, by January 2012, Obama still has no higher than 31 percent approval among independents, his withdrawal becomes a distinct possibility.
